Vermont
"Must
have an importation permit before any wild felines may enter the
state. Office does not issue permits if wild felines are desired
for pets, breeding stock or private collection. They have not
issued any importation permits for wild felines. With sufficient
documentation, they would allow the importation for scientific
research, education, or exhibition purposes."
"It is
unlawful for any person to bring into the State of Vermont any
live wild bird or animal ... unless, upon application in writing
therefor, the person obtains a permit to do so." The definition
of "Wild Animals" include "the family Canidae,
any hybrids with domestic dogs." Wolf hybrids do not have
an approved rabies vaccine in VT, thus any animals that bite a
human will be destroyed so that their heads may be sent in to
the state for rabies testing.
There don’t
appear to be any specific laws at the moment regarding hybrid
felines in Vermont, although based on their fairly stringent laws
regarding full-blooded exotics and hybrid wolves, it would be
advised to contact state and local agencies prior to adoption
to confirm legality.
