Maine

Maine law is confusing: Under Title 7, § 3907, 12-C of the Animal Laws of the State of Maine, "Dog means.. Any canine, regardless of generation, resulting from the interbreeding of a member of Canis familiaris with a wolf hybrid…." A separate definition, however, reads " Wolf hybrid includes a mammal that is represented by its owner to be a wolf hybrid…." Wolf hybrids, like dogs must be licensed in the State. If a wolf hybrid is found to bite then they “must be euthanized, regardless of vaccination status. Although the small wild felines are regulated in the State, there are no laws regulating hybrids of wild felines. Please check with your County or City for ordinances that may effect your right to own your pet.
